Dear ClassicFM

At the moment I am in the process of decorating my home and, traditionally, I listen to your station while I work. I discovered today, after a bout of ill-health, when I resumed my task that I can no longer listen to you at all. You see, whilst I was poorly, I learned you don’t pay any UK taxes. I try hard to be a forgiving woman but I find my usually capacious stock of it is missing.

It’s not so much anger that I feel – although that does form a part of it – it’s the level of disappointment. Here you are, milking your listeners dry with your CD’s and performances it seems but you see no need to contribute to the public purse that enables your audience to afford you. No doubt, many of your presenters have their own ways of avoiding paying taxes as well, if I think about it.

I can’t listen to you anymore because every time you play a piece of music, I wonder what the composer would make of what you are doing – using their creation to make money for yourselves and giving nothing back to the people who made you what you are. I wonder what Beethoven would have thought of your use of his music? Or Mozart? You have taken their creativity and are using it to feed your personal greed – if that weren’t true, you’d be paying taxes. You benefit a great deal financially from the creativity of Joanne Rowling but you don’t follow her example. It’s not hard to think of a few composers who might have a strong opinion about your behaviour towards the British public too.

I do not have a problem with people making money. My problem arises with those who profit from the poverty of others. Joanne Rowling doesn’t just pay her taxes – she gives her money away but you don’t, do you? Unless you can show similar behavioural standards to Ms Rowling in terms of taxes and charitable work, you have no business using the creators’ music you profit from, in my opinion.

I may be an audience of one but I do wonder how many other people might feel the same way I do. I have great respect for composers and love classical music with a deep passion. I cannot listen to your radio station – nor can I listen to the BBC for their open political bias – because I find myself betraying those I respect by doing so.

I’m tired of listening to selfish rich people abusing the creativity of the poor. Beethoven wasn’t rich! Neither was Mozart! How much money have you made from them? How much do you give back so the composers of tomorrow can emerge from those who are poor but creative? You don’t even contribute to the society you’re milking by your tax avoidance schemes. Why should I listen to you?

The thing that gets me the most is how I didn’t see it before! But then I didn’t know you don’t pay taxes.

And I find I can’t forgive you.

Financially, I am a poor woman and always have been. In my best earning year, I hit £30k and thought I was rich. I was self-employed at the time but I still paid my taxes. Those taxes pay for the infrastructure you take for granted but which is collapsing, if not already collapsed, for one third of the British population. The middle third are feeling the pinch and it’s hurting them badly. The final third – the ones who are running the country to suit themselves and nobody cares what happens to the rest of us – is your demographic. The lifestyle you advocate might as well be in Lala-land in comparison to mine nor is yours fairly earned as far as two thirds of the country are concerned. The size of your wealth is measured by the depth of our poverty – earned wealth includes paying taxes to support the infrastructure of the country. You refuse to pay taxes when two thirds of the country are suffering – what kind of people are you?

Why aren’t you ashamed of yourselves?

The thing is that it’s likely your listeners come from all walks of life – just like me. Some of us are fully aware of the connection between tax avoidance like yours and hungry, homeless people dying in our streets.

To refuse to pay our social responsibility to the creative community we profit from is selfish but to continue to refuse when that community is suffering as a result of your selfishness is a sin that can only be forgiven by God because I cannot find it in myself to forgive you at the moment.

That is why I will never willingly listen to your radio station again and it’s got nothing to do with the music!

I hear from so many people who feel isolated and alone during this awakening and massive paradigm shift taking place around the globe. Spouses can’t wake up partners to the truth; family members and close friends think you’ve gone wonky, while the mainstream matrix mouthpieces keep up their barrage of derision against anyone who dares to look past the range of their narrow blinders.

It does suck. We all experience this phenomenon and the isolation that seems to accompany the wake up.

Here’s a hugely happy thought. If we’re an organic, cosmically influenced body of crystaline receivers and broadcasters in an alive and amazing all-knowing Universe, perhaps we’re exactly where we’re each supposed to be.

In fact, we’re probably carefully distributed to create a world-wide grid of truth!

Cool? In other words, once again there’s no mistake with synchronicity!

Although this was written in 2008, I am reblogging this because I believe this is important to us all - I was shown the same information in 1999…

“Yesterday, I journeyed in the shamanic way up through the astral planes and into the higher dimensions. As I reached the lower, dark astral, they were waiting for me, as they often are these days, demanding my co-operation in a certain task. I just snorted a bit and told them to go forth and multiply, in so many words. But they continued, speaking of the great embarrassment that will be caused to a certain astrally-governed mafia group on Earth if I don’t comply.

I’d been meditating on a 2D glyph (magical symbol) earlier, asking it to unravel itself it to me in its multi-dimensional form and to reveal its meaning and its purpose. As these unsavoury types continued to plie with me with their alternate threats, promises and incentives, the glyph appeared in front of me, and I took and used it as a weapon of force to push them away from me. And as I did so, I began to draw a circle with the glyph and intoned the following.

“Within this circle of protection lies all my family members and all my friends, however loosely they consider themselves my family member or friend. It also includes all my clients and people that I help, that come to me for teaching or healing, either personally, or through my forum, Ishtar’s Gate, my blog, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and any other social media networking.

“From now on, you can have no influence on me or anyone within this circle of protection, past, present and future, into perpetuity. So be it.”

This work is now done, and in writing it here, I’m anchoring it down on to the denser planes.

But it is in the higher dimensions where one attracts more benevolent and altruistic entities and who, like Ishtar, have the best interests of man at heart.

This is in complete contradistinction to the entities who crowd the astral planes, and who are controlled and channelled by certain psychotronic warfare and alphabet agency operatives in order to create fear in man, upon which they feed.

By changing your frequency, you can change the alignment of your vibration, and then you can attract higher aligned entities whose very presence renders any astral influences null and void.

According to the entities on the astral planes, and those who control us through these entities, the astral plane is the ‘be all and end all’ of existence. This blinkered arrogance reminds me of the blind demiurge in Gnostic Christian mythology, who believes there is no higher god than him.

Just a glance at the Kabbalah would tell us otherwise. Here, the late occultist, Dion Fortune, has helpfully shown how the astral planes are the lower planes of the Tree of the Life as it is represented in the cosmology of the ancient Hebrews, Babylonians and Egyptians.

The first diagram, from her book The Mystical Qabalah, shows the cosmogonic model in its entirety, with each of the ten ‘worlds’ or dimensions placed in relation to each other and accessed by one or more of the 32 paths ~ hence the various degrees of the Freemasons, and the significance of the number 33, which is the destination.

In this second diagram, Dion Fortune has shown how the astral lower triangle is below the other higher dimensions in which the more ethical and supernal frequencies or vibrations are obtained and accessed.

This naturally leads to the realisation that the so-called Illuminati are not very illumined or enlightened at all. They are stuck in the lower astral triangle because for them to go any higher takes spiritual training of which they are incapable of receiving while they don’t have the cognitive wherewithal to even seek it. And so they remain imprisoned in their mind-sets of power obtained by fear and greed, where other people are just commodities or a means to an end.

For this reason, there is almost continual war going on, on the astral planes, and that’s why the world stage appears to be so chaotic, as one group pushes against another, and that group pushes back again.

More recently, all factions have pinned their bid for power on the year 2012, not because of any intrinsic meaning in the number of the year itself, but because they’ve been infiltrating our thinking over the past five years or so about what they want us to believe 2012 means. This is also why there are so many conflicting theories about what will happen in 2012, although each scenario has one thing in common, and that is the provision of cover for a huge global false flag attack, should they choose to mount one, which will also fulfill their needs for the spilling of human blood and human sacrifice.

So I suggest we leave them to their wars and concentrate on getting above the astral. But how do we know which influences are impacting on us, and where they’re coming from?

How do we know whether we are resonating with the higher planes?

A simple litmus test is to check how we feel. If we’re feeling fear over all the changes happening in our world at this present time, we’re still subject to astral influences which are working upon us all the time, but also while we’re asleep, when we’re more open to them. If you wake in the morning and within seconds of consciousness, you’re feeling fear or guilt in your stomach, this is a sign that the astral has been influencing your dreams. However, if you find this… there’s a simple remedy.

Concentrate on your heart ~ not your heart chakra, but your physical heart ~ and give it gratitude and love for serving you so faithfully for all of your life. This connects you to the vortex of Creation. After a minute or so of giving gratitude to your heart, you will physically, mentally and emotionally feel changes in the energies around you and you will start to feel much better.

Then, during the day, start to practise seeing yourself as the ‘gods’ or spirits see you. Actually, if you could see how beautiful, wonderful and extraordinary you really are, you would probably be rooted to the spot in awe for days on end … and this is probably another reason why we’re kept so busy and in fear by our astrally-motivated Masters of the Universe. But they don’t own all our time… and we only need a minute or so to reconnect with our hearts and with all the gratitude and the love. And then the lower ‘preta’ or ‘hungry ghost’ entities will leave you alone, because you won’t be providing any food for them.

For so long, our society, and our economy, has been based on greed, envy and scarcity ~ this creates optimum conditions for the lower astral entities to have a feeding frenzy. These feelings of greed, envy and scarcity are created through advertising and television programming where women are not allowed to get old, and where the ‘poor’ are only good for patronising on programmes deemed to be ‘helping them’, like Jerry Skinner’s and Jeremy Kyle’s. Unless it’s a Rom-Com (aimed at keeping the species propagating itself), most television dramas, movies and computer games are centred around violence, murder and shoot ‘em up car chases to keep the fear pumping through our veins.

Since the Second World War, there has been a deliberate social engineering drive to break up communities and even families, and to push people into the cities. So that now billions of individuals sit alienated in lonely high rises in front of flickering tellies. Then when these individuals go to the doctors with depression and anxiety, they are given drugs to medicate themselves against the reality of the empty prison cell of their lives. At least when they were feeling unhappy, that unhappiness could have provided a spur to create change. Instead, the coffers of the pharmaceutical companies get fatter at their expense.

So how can we change this fear, greed and envy-driven world? Political action alone is not enough, because it doesn’t take into account the ‘other worlds’ where the seeds of potentiality are sown before they sprout into this realm of manifestation. We need to get ourselves vibrationally in alignment with these other worlds, and then start to manifest what we want, just I did yesterday.

We are co-creators and once in those realms, we can say what we want and through Higher Laws, the creation has to comply.

But even before doing that, there’s an even simpler way. We change our realities by changing how we think and feel as individuals, and we do this by only resonating vibrationally with the realms which are made of Love and Gratitude and not those that are made of Fear and Greed.

In this way, there will naturally be a dawn of a New Earth, and then we can gradually start to switch over from Fear and Greed-based economics to Love and Gratitude-based economics.

The new system of economics will be based on giving, in effect, gifting our services to others, and receiving back whatever Spirit or the Universe provides for us. You may think this sounds too idealistic, but I’ve already started to use that model in my shamanic healing work and since switching over to it, I have experienced more abundance than ever before.

There’s an excellent new film out, Sacred Economics, which goes into more detail about how the world economy could switch over to this system.

Sacred Economics traces the history of money from ancient gift economies to modern capitalism, revealing how the money system has contributed to alienation, competition, and scarcity, destroyed community, and necessitated endless growth.

Today, these trends have reached their extreme – but in the wake of their collapse, we may find great opportunity to transition to a more connected, ecological, and sustainable way of being.

I thoroughly recommend this film, as a means of anchoring the new consciousness into our everyday reality. But first of all, the seeds must be sown in the realms of potentiality so that the harvest can be a sweet one. And we can plant and water these seeds, and give them sunshine, by giving Love and Gratitude to our hearts, daily.”

The first evidence comes from Emergent Culture and relates to Terrence McKenna’s Time Wave.

It is a long, technical piece for those interested in this kind of evidence and it accords with a lot of my own earned wisdom. Nevertheless, there are some very interesting comments about the “sameness” of the events of 9/11, coupled with the potential novelty our present finds us in.

The above information accords with the astrological wisdom shared by Carl Boudreau. Here is his anaylsis for July 2012.

You will best understand this by checking the accuracy of his predictions for us in June.

Those of us who are awake to this will have there own understanding of what is occurring. We are in our evolutionary process right now.

The first test is the Battle of Minds. This following is a very good example of what we are contending with.

Anyone who keeps a ready eye on the internet’s ‘New Age’ community will have come across this announcement “Green Light: Massive Arrests Imminent”. David Icke states this is a massive scam although he fails to explain why. I can explain and it falls within the boundaries set by Carl’s analysis and the TimeWave.

The main reason I distrust this information is that it fails to contain the elements of genuine change I would be looking for in any new ways of living human life on this planet.

As a woman, I experience the existing systems we live under at a global level as profoundly misogynistic. Women have been detailing this for decades and continue to do so. The level of physical and psychological violence towards women and our capacity for autonomy is rising quickly across the globe and show little signs of abating. Any genuine major transformation of our global systems would have to include a major redressing of this highly toxic imbalance of power.

As a woman, I see nothing within the promises of Drake and his cohorts to suggest that this gender-power imbalance is being addressed. All I see is another bunch of men telling me to ‘trust’ them while they engage in a battle of power with another bunch of men already proven to be woman-haters.

Apparently, this New Cabal is sourced from China and the Far East. If I look to the position of women within that human grouping I find nothing to reassure me, as a woman, that this so-called ‘Green Light’ is anything more than yet another battle for power and resources between men. Presumably, within the ideas contained within them, is a nod towards power-sharing with women although I have yet to see even that. China’s record on women’s power may have changed somewhat but it has resulted in a society that must question its own capacity for compassion. I ask myself if I want to live in a world where a girl can be abandoned to vehicular homicide in a public street while passers-by merely observe and record what is occurring. My answer is a resounding No.

As women, we have millennia of experience to know that such changes amount to nothing as far as we are concerned. Women only have to ask themselves the following questions to get to the bottom of Drake’s presentations:-

How many men of ‘abusive power’ do you know who would willingly step aside to allow women, and the issues that concern us, to effect real change within human society at all levels?

How many men are willing to even listen carefully to the concerns and needs of women especially if, as a result, this would require them to give up old patterns of behaviour or old advantages based upon the disadvantages of women?

How many visible competent and trusted women are involved in this new regime being presented to us?

My own answers are the reason why I share David Icke’s view that whatever is being presented is some form of scam – a changing of the guard instead of genuine transformation – and that presupposes that these changes have some substance in reality to begin with.

There are other, non-gender, reasons for my suspicions too.

In psychological terms, to effect genuine and permanent change requires the person involved to ‘individuate’. To individuate is to fully become our unique selves as responsible adults within our social settings. A fully individuated individual does not want to be ‘rescued’ from their difficulties because they need the freedom to find their own solutions. This is what fully-formed human adults do but that is definitely not what is on offer here. The ‘Green Light’ is framed and presented as a collective ‘rescue’ from the wicked ‘Cabal’.

The “Victim-Persecutor-Rescuer” dynamic has very deep roots in Western psychological thinking both individually and collectively. It is at the very heart and root of the Shock Doctrine used by psychopathic leaders in order to reinforce their hold on power and it reaches into the heart/mind of every individual. This dynamic requires victims. In order to have victims, persecutors are required. To affect a transfer of power, rescuers are needed too. I believe that the moment we hear the word ‘victim’ in any situation, we are looking at this dynamic and any solution found within that framework merely perpetuates the problem.

To understand this, we have to look at what happens after the victim has been rescued.

Once rescued from a persecutor, victims are usually very grateful to their rescuers to begin with. Once the new situation has been established, however, those who had previously been victims begin to find fault with the rescuer. This hasn’t been done properly. That isn’t right. As the pattern progresses, so the ‘victims’ shift their position to that of persecutor, creating new victims often amongst those who had affected their original rescue. The dynamic of Victim-Rescuer-Persecutor is simply a methodology for shifting the power of the persecutor from one individual or group to another and we don’t have to look very far to find examples in reality.

To see ourselves as victims is to relinquish our capacity as adults to become our own rescuers. To see ourselves as victims is to remain dependent upon others for change without any effort on our part to become responsible for creating the situation we most desire. This relinquishing of adult responsibility for our individual selves requires that we remain psychological children. We fail to address or take personal responsibility for our own ‘persecutor-within’. When the solution delivered by the rescuer fails to meet our ego-requirements – which it must do when any so-called solution is delivered from ‘without’ our responsible adult – we begin to see the emergence of blaming others for our own failures. As the blaming increases, a new group of victims emerges and so the pattern continues.

The true power of this dynamic resides with the persecutor. To break free of the pattern demands that each one of us addresses our persecutor within and take responsibility for the damage it causes to both ourselves and others. As we ‘persecute’ our ego into relinquishing its irresponsibility, we step up to our responsibilities as individual adults working together to resolve the very real problems we are all facing if the human race is to survive at all. Without this, we cannot transform ourselves out of the old toxic patterns into the fully responsible adults we are capable of being.

Drake’s ‘Green Light’ is presented as a ‘rescue’ of people from a persecuting system. In the light of the Victim-Rescuer-Persecutor dynamic, this offers no real change at all. It is merely a change of power from one group of now identified men into the hands of largely unknown men and where the involvement of women is only noticeable by our resounding absence.

All this leads me to conclude that whatever is going on here is some form of Psych-Ops – a psychological operation aimed at perpetuating existing power structures by luring the unwary into giving up their personal power for real change by the highly suspect promises of rescue. The question that arises, for me, is ‘Who gains from this?’

The only answer I have at present is ‘Not me’. Not me as a financially impoverished individual. Not me as a woman. If one woman is saying ‘Not me’, the chances are there are many more women who would say the same if they understood what was occurring. If Drake’s solution doesn’t address either of these two points, then the chances are that the ones who gain from all this are rich men. Again. This is simply more of the Same-Old-Same-Old. As a woman, I say this ‘new emperor’ is wearing no clothes either and looks just as unimpressive as the ‘shower’ they are supposedly replacing.

As they say in my part of the world, “You must be having a laff.”

As some of you are already aware, I have been posting evidence of censorship on my twitter account. Because this is also occurring to others, it might cross your mind that making a big song-and-dance about what is happening to me is, in some way, egotistical or self-seeking. The only way to be certain, one way or another is to examine my reasoning.

So here are my reasons for saying that censoring me might place society at some sort of risk. I say this because I have found myself in this kind of situation before and the consequences were not pretty.

Those who know me personally, whether neighbours or cyber-friends, are aware I have a criminal conviction for violence. I am not going to go into the details here but suffice it to say that censorship formed a central role in the circumstances leading up to my conviction. My conviction has consequences that will never lapse in this lifetime. My society has laid very strict rules upon my behaviour and if I fail to comply, I can be prosecuted again and would probably receive a very hefty sentence. The public found themselves at risk from me the last time I was censored. As a matter of Public Protection and speaking as a responsible adult, when someone with a criminal conviction like mine finds themselves in the same situation that contributed to their crime, it is right for society to become concerned. This is why I am making a big fuss about what is occurring on twitter.

The reason people know about my conviction is because I tell them – just as I keep telling you. I’ve been told this is a dangerous activity and have, I suspect, been recalled to prison for doing so by the probation service. If, however, I am seeking to redeem myself to the society I live in now then I believe openness and honesty are absolutely vital. If I am to successfully redeem myself, as a responsible adult, I must contribute to the protection of my community by identifying potential threats to public safety. If, within my community, there is someone once regarded as so dangerous only solitary confinement was considered secure enough and who now finds themselves censored in public, then this needs to be reported to the proper authorities as a matter of public protection – even if that person is me. There can be NO exceptions; not in a lawful society.

So, as a part of my desire to contribute to a lawful society, I am reporting myself to my local Police Public Protection officers. This might seem a very dangerous thing to do, especially in the light of my second criminal conviction – my threat to kill a police officer. Yet I find myself having little fear of doing so and here’s why.

The process of redemption is an absolute constant in a sinner’s life. It requires honesty and truthfulness. It requires courage in the face of exclusion, derision and abuse. It requires a very high standard of behaviour and it requires me to be humble in the face of my many failings. The crimes I committed have to be paid for and whilst I may have served my sentence, my commitment to my continuing redemption has to remain unrelenting. If my society believes I need to be censored, then I had better deal with it now just as I dealt with my offences a few years back.

Since my release, my contact with my local police has been minimal and as I get on well with my current neighbours, I doubt if I have given any cause for alarm. When I was on probation it was a different story. What I can be certain of is that I apologised to almost every police officer who dealt with me. Those who didn’t get a face-to-face apology can find my written apology in the files of the police board. In a lawful society, I should have no fear of the police and in my present community, I don’t. The local police have been magnificent with me. Their faults have been so minor as to be totally eclipsed by the magnanimity, kindness, humour, compassion and genuine interest of those I have met. Their capacity to deal with my eccentricities is second to none and, if they think about it, my posting something like this on the net will come as no surprise because I am nothing if not surprising. I’ve surprised a lot of people and shocked even more.

The issue of my twitter censorship may not bother the local police officers who know me but it bothers me because I find myself anxious about my relationship with them. One of the features of both my convictions was that of corruption in public office and it included the local police. All my attempts to resolve matters through established procedures failed as the direct result of unlawful orders being issued to police officers. I knew they were unlawful and the police officer I threatened to kill knew it too. The reason I threatened to kill him was because he didn’t act on that knowledge – I was too far gone, in mental health terms, to be able to see that he may have been prevented from acting. If that is the case, then I repeat the apology I made in open court. As my local police are fully aware, as part of my own redemption, I am not permitted to comply with orders I believe to be unlawful even if I bear a heavy cost for doing so. I would really rather not have to do it again but will, if needs must.

If my twitter censorship is lawful, then I believe an efficient public sector would have informed my local public protection police given the criminal convictions I so openly declare. They should know about it. This post is an insurance policy. If my local police don’t know about it, then I am ensuring that they do as a recovering criminal concerned about public protection. So I’m reporting myself to them. All I am asking them to do is make note of the situation. If they want to do any more than that, that’s none of my business unless they need me to go formal. But here is the reason why I regard this as an insurance policy.

Because I believe that my twitter censorship is unlawful, I’m going to carry on testing and reporting the results. In other words, I am liable to become a public nuisance. Whilst there are those who have no problem with this and encourage me to continue, those who act unlawfully will have to start taking further steps to shut me up… just like they did before. Given my prior experience, I would expect the following to happen. Because I will not be acting unlawfully, by a law I recognise, there will be some other attempt to criminalise me. If this occurs, it will have to be done via orders issued to my local police. If those orders are fundamentally unlawful, then I believe any public official has a duty to refuse to comply with them. If I am legally correct, then this is written into each person’s Contract of Employment, as I’m certain the local Police Federation branch can confirm. The only time public officials are permitted to act unlawfully is if they are gathering evidence of abuse in public office.

So, I say this to my local police. If you decide you need evidence of abuses in public office, then please come and get me with whatever the abusers have come up with now. Please ensure all paperwork is complete and up to date – the examination of such documents in court meant I was able to achieve a ‘Not-Guilty’ verdict to the charge of ‘Attempted Murder’. Please understand that I will be acting in my own defence, so you are asked to treat me as both perpetrator and legal representative. You can expect to be working with a friendly defendant and an experienced legal-eagle. You can expect me to think and behave, respectfully, outside the box you find yourselves in. You may be asked to answer questions from my nominated legal colleagues in any or all matters you are being ordered to prosecute. As my legal representative, I ask my local police to appoint the most efficient, competent officers to the matter and that each one of them is ordered to report any ‘unofficial’ or ‘off-the-record’ conversations that occur outside the team, regardless of who that person is. Sometimes an investigation finds itself impeded by psychological subversion from someone close to the individual. If the ‘subverted’ are known to be otherwise reliable people, then how they were subverted needs to be examined. Please understand that the intentional dissemination of falsehoods is an attempt to pervert the course of justice. As an aside, I want to say here how grateful I am that my local community has so many competent women in public positions. Even if I never claim on this policy, I’m guessing that one or two of my ‘demands’ may be giving them ideas about what it means to act lawfully.

Speaking as a former shop steward, I have no problem with management when they do their job properly. If, however, they choose to become problematic, I have a tendency to reflect that. When there is collective agreement between public employers, their managers and staff, we are all working for the benefit of the whole. When that benefit is authentically held in public trust, not private corruption, the accrued power for transformative change is extended to the community as a whole. This is not a political matter at all; it begins with a woman’s lawful public concern that, I think, ought to become a community’s legal concern. When these matters are given due professional consideration this might contribute to resolving some of local and national problems. My Law begins with a woman’s law – the International Declaration of Human Rights – as mothered into creation by Eleanor Roosevelt. As a woman who is seeking to demonstrate my social responsibility, my legal basis begins there as a human being. As an Employment Law professional, I recognise a public contract as binding upon those professionals who undertake public duty. I undertake the same responsibility as my chosen public duty along the road of personal redemption. This is what I offer to my community when I undertake my understanding of public duty. It may not be some people’s idea of what public duty is but, well, I make up my own mind on this subject.

Those of us who stand in the line of fire as a public duty – and I have only ever made a nuisance of myself on behalf of and at the request of others – become very skilled at what we do. The excellent relationship I have been allowed to create in reality with my local officials tells me that I am dealing with some very experienced people. The measure is their ability to formally undertake their duty, however difficult, whilst retaining compassion and the capacity to behave in a merciful manner when called upon to do so by their conscience. This is emotional intelligence coupled with behavioural and intellectual respect. I don’t need to prove it because you have already proved it to yourselves.

By putting myself on formal report, at least in my own mind, I can begin to pull my legal case together in such a way that issues of public protection come high on the collective agenda. The last time I had to do this I think I did a fairly good job. I got a free education in psychiatric and criminal justice – seven years of unbroken study counts as a Doctorate of Law in my book.

It is my professional opinion that the censorship I am experiencing on twitter is criminal for the reason that it seeks to pervert the course of lawful justice, insofar as it appears to interfere with accurate public psychiatric and forensic observations of persons in public office. It is fair to presume accuracy because it has resulted in a need to silence me, by person(s) unknown, in an organised manner within a public forum. If my local police haven’t been informed of this, then it is fair to presume that the action is unlawful – I am, after all, a known criminal. In a lawful society, this information ought to have been passed to those whose concern for public protection is as great, if not greater, than mine. If some won’t take responsibility for their actions in this matter, it falls to me to do so as a matter of public interest.

The behaviour I hope to be manifesting by my actions is intended to provide a training model that supplies workable standards and measures of someone capable of shouldering responsibilities in public life. My legal view is that when it is manifestly plain to competent people that an individual is unfit to undertake public responsibility by reason of apparent corruption or incompetence, it is necessary to suspend them from duty whilst the matter is investigated thoroughly. If corruption is proven on a balance of evidence and reasonable suspicion, they must be removed from public office forthwith and with immediate effect because they pose an immediate danger to the community. There are all kinds of existing laws that enable such decisions should they need to be properly enforced on the grounds of mental incapacity to distinguish belief from reality. I don’t understand why they are not being applied already as any action to achieve this can only be deemed legal after the fact. In addition, the evidence is certainly in to show that those who fail to act in accordance with the law are liable to be held legally accountable at a later date.

There is, however, another way of dealing with this entirely. I could, for example, ask my local police whether they see any crime in what I am reporting to them. If they do and it is something they believe to be in the public interest to act upon, then perhaps the same competent prosecutor from the CPS could take a long legal look at what crimes may need investigating here and, with guidance from my legal colleagues, write up my formal complaint accordingly. A legal-eagle sees the whole landscape but may miss important details. I have to be aware of my limitations as well as respect what my community already knows. Since they continue to surprise me with their imagination, I defer to their greater knowledge both respectfully and happily. And as this is a matter of public interest, I will ensure that my Councillor and MP are informed as a matter of courtesy.

My ‘public duty and responsibility’ may be self-appointed but, on balance, I think I prefer living within a community that has someone like me in it. Frankly, I am not willing to live in a world that doesn’t want me here.

That’s my choice. Now you have a choice. Live in a world that seems to think, by hook or by crook, it ought to be sustained long past its sell-by date, or to start living to create a better world by lawfully challenging those who are presently issuing unlawful orders.

Evolving the Global Heart/Mind – finding our way through the Labyrinth?:

A couple of days ago, two friends raised concerns about our collective future in conversation. Both had intuitions that the ‘Forces of Darkness’ were preparing for another assault on the Heart/Mind/Soul of humanity and one was looking for a way of identifying the dark ones. What interested me was the sense of powerlessness that seemed to accompany their comments – as though they couldn’t see a way past the problems they were identifying. If we cannot even envisage solutions, then we are unlikely to be able to navigate our way through problems when they do arise.

This is not being written to provide answers as such, but to provide examples of how I use my own imagination to shift my perspective beyond a ‘powerless’ reaction to a place where I can mindfully respond when the shit hits the fan.

There is now a lot of information about people who exhibit attitudes and behaviour that can loosely be described as ‘Dark’. An internet surfer need only search for information about psychopaths to be served up a smorgasbord of detail. One of the best, if you prefer a shortish introduction, is “Defence against the Psychopath” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgGyvxqYSbE which details the known behaviour patterns of those subject to the ‘disorder’ and the impact they have on those unfortunate enough to find themselves sucked into a psychopathic orbit.

In my opinion, there is a problem with this kind of labelling – as anyone who has been labelled can tell you – it limits thought processes to the definition of the tag and to what each of us understands that tag to mean. The general public understanding of psychopathy tends to the swivel-eyed murder depicted in the mainstream media but this is a very limited viewpoint that, ultimately, is only realistically beneficial to the psychopath themselves. Psychopathy is a much broader subject that affects everyone, regardless of any social distinction.

A far more helpful approach is that understood by the Cree Tribe of Indigenous American First Peoples who call the problem we face the “Wetiko Virus”. A detailed understanding of what is meant by this psychological viral infection of humanity is detailed here:

The reason I believe this Wetiko approach valuable is because the theory recognises that we are all inflected, to varying degrees. By utilising this approach, the responsibility for finding a resolution falls directly upon each and every one of us – we cannot escape personal responsibility because, if we are all infected, then each one of us has the power to deal with the problems we ourselves are creating, provided we are willing to take up the challenge.

The symptoms of the Wetiko Virus, much like psychopathy, operate from an egocentric, selfish, greedy perspective lacking in empathy, compassion or self-reflection. By seeing the problem as viral rather than genetic (a viewpoint beginning to be favoured by some), we can all participate in arriving at a solution rather than seeing it as someone else’s problem, a symptom of Wetiko.

This is the information I draw upon in order to start understanding what the problems are and who they may belong to, always starting with me, in the hope that eventually I might be able to spot them coming. As Carl Jung stated; “If there is a problem with society, there is a problem with the people who make up that society; and if there is a problem with the people who make up that society, then there is a problem with me.”

Human Beings: The Balance between Light and Dark

No authentic human being is pure Light whilst we are incarnated. To be incarnated is to be living on the edge of balance, whoever we are. It may be the balance of the ecology we live in; the balance of gender; the balance of difference. Presently, we are born into a world that is deeply out of balance and it becomes our personal responsibility, by the making of our own choices, that determines whether we remain out of balance or whether we make the effort to change, grow or evolve.

If, as I do, we accept the premise that western ‘civilisation’ is manifesting severe symptoms of Wetiko infection, then our first task, as responsible planetary citizens, is to embark on a personal exploration of how we are ourselves affected. Because Wetiko is a shape-shifting virus so, too, will be our own symptoms. Given that the intent of practising Wetikos is the ultimate destruction of their prey, at their convenience, one of the areas worth exploring is where we become “petrified” into non-action. The interruptions to the Gestalt Cycle of Experience give therapeutic clues as to how these interruptions can manifest within us. For example: do we reach for what we’ve been told in order to avoid taking action on our own behalf (Introjection)? Do we blame someone else for our problems(Projection)? Do we prefer to sacrifice our individuality in favour of ‘belonging’ (Confluence)?

To find the balance between our internal Light and Wetiko-free Darkness is a task of many lifetimes and is a process of constant self-reflection to root out any deeper toxicity regardless of how consciously unintended the results of our actions may have been. Our levels of infection are always measured in the results of our actions… or inactions. The healthy darkness is a mystery because it is unconscious until it makes itself known. I suspect this is what the American First Peoples mean by the “Great Mystery”. Out of this Dark Womb come inspiration, creativity and the most surprising answers to our problems, once it is clean enough. Uncleaned, we are likely to replicate any Wetiko infection we are subject to.

This is the personal level of work. The next dimension contains the problems we face at global levels – the global infection of our social systems by the Wetiko virus. How do we, as individuals, tackle this problem?

The Global Mind and Evolution

The way I have found through this minefield that seems to be most effective is to grow my personal awareness to a global level as best I can. I cease to be this or that label or nationality and become a living entity dwelling upon a far greater living entity – our planet.

The Wekito mindset is divisive. It divides us into races, genders, nationalities, tribes, castes/classes, etc. To grow a global mind is to move beyond such divisiveness to greater inclusion. If we are capable of conscious breathing, bleeding, life then we belong on this planet – we are included because we exist. But, then, so do the Wetikos. Why, then, might a planet like ours evolve such an energy? What purpose could it serve?

The most interesting answer I have found is this one:-

“Our unconscious, knee-jerk reactivity is the primary way that the wetiko psychosis regenerates and propagates itself in the field. Like a pathogen invading a body, this virulent psychic bug strikes and hooks us through our weakest point in the unconscious, the tenderest and most vulnerable spot within ourselves through which we are most likely to re-act.

Wetiko is like a psychic nautilus machine that is continually ‘working’ us.

Humanity’s highest virtues are called upon when we are confronted by evil. Encoded within the evil of the wetiko virus is its own psychic vaccine, a potential inoculation against our own ignorance and laziness, which if not overcome, will overcome us. The wetiko bug’s existence requires us to strengthen our muscle of discernment. The virus demands that we cultivate impeccability within ourselves, or we don’t stand a chance.

Wetiko literally demands that we step into our power and become resistant to its oppression such that we discover how to step out of bondage and become free, or else! Instead of a typical virus mutating so as to become resistant to our attempts at healing it, the wetiko virus forces us to mutate relative to it. It is as though the evil of wetiko is itself the instrument of a higher intelligence.”

The notion that Wetikos/Psychopaths are our route to evolution is a very potent idea. It transforms problems into teachers of what we are and are-not ourselves. Any and all lessons learnt point the way to a greater potential collective resolution, remembering that any solution will require us to do something about ourselves and our behaviour first. Evolution is a personal issue and a choice that each and every one us must make on our own and in our own way. However, if we have chosen; if we have worked, or begun to work, on our self-awareness; and if we have come to our own experience of the Global Heart/Mind/Soul, then it becomes our responsibility to share what we know as freely as possible. What we know may only be ‘right’ for ourselves but our unique perspective drawn from our unique experience may open doors of understanding and perception in others, so that they might develop their own global perspective.

I would reiterate here, these are simply my answers to the questions raised; my way of thinking outside the Wetiko Virus box. These are offered as a contribution towards a collective solution, not answers in an of themselves.

Listening to our Intuition & Coping with Global Shock

The intuition of my friends is saying that the energies forming at the moment include another Act of Darkness emanating from the Wetiko-infected global system. The events of 9/11 offer a flavour of the impact such a global Act would have. Anyone who understands “The Shock Doctrine” of Naomi Klein will know that the spiritual/social/emotional/physical impact of such Acts is wholly and entirely intentional on the part of the perpetrators. The purpose is to render people ‘petrified’ by shock whilst the Wetiko system furthers its agenda.

We cannot insulate ourselves from this – it is simply not possible unless we are full-blown Wetikos. What we can do, as sensitive, intelligent and heart-based people, is refuse to be disabled by it. If the Wetiko Virus is a spur to human evolution, then together we must look for ways to evolve our way out of the intended destruction. We can see this occurring within various freedom movements globally, where brutal repression by various national and international Wetiko-based systems are either catalysing resistance amongst people or heightening infection in others. For those who are choosing to be awakened, the best advice I have encountered for this moment of potential comes from the I Ching.

Hexagram 51 deals with Shock, also called “The Arousing”. Line 3 of this hexagram speaks of the kind of shock created by events like 9/11:

“Shock that makes one crazed with grief.Be spurred to inner action. No blame.

At times when one suffers the external shock of fate, one’s presence of mind may be easily lost. One must not let fate take its course; nor overlook the opportunity for action. Let the shock induce movement within so that one may overcome such blows. Become equal to the shock.”

If the ‘evil’ my friends sense swirling into manifestation is about to create another global-level shock in order to force humanity into obedience, then the I-Ching is suggesting that we need to evolve ourselves to a global mind/heart/soul-set in order to become equal to it.

Given that we, as human beings, have already survived thus far in a profoundly unequal and sick system, to simply become equal to a global Wetiko Virus shock is a clear indicator of evolution. In understanding this, perhaps it will empower us to use our fear to mobilise, rather than devolve into the petrification we have experienced until now – we can use our fear to spur us forward into further growth.

If that isn’t evolution, then I don’t know what is.

A Response to the Creation of Occupy Witchcraft.

Responding is a very tricky thing. When ever you respond to someone, you want to make sure that you are clear and concise in your direct messaging. This is most likely the hardest thing that I have had to learn in any of the writing that I have ever done. I tend to forget to include things, or adapt a tone that my intended audience mistakes as hostility and even power through my response that any good content I actually wanted to provide ends up sounding like it was dispensed through a sludge bath. For this, I wanted to avoid all of that.

When I was on Twitter last week I entered into an amazing conversation that latterly became to exploding burning which hot light blub over my head: Occupy Witchcraft! From there I created OccupyWitch on Twitter and I’m looking to secure this persona across other social media avenues as well. It’s been about a week and already this has excited my expectations astronomically! Currently after one week there are 33 people following that Twitter page and truthfully, that’s 32 more than I thought would!

However, I think a valid point was brought up by one of my compatriots: is it possible for the Craft, working together, to create a multi-faith circle of manifest energy where all those of whatever religion or spiritual discipline could meet in collective Peace?

This is a very daunting question that could possibly have far reaching effects. The really strange thing is the first thing I said when I saw this question was to unequivocally answer: YES! However, I had no ideal how that even looked on paper or in practice. I needed time to really think and gather my mind to focus on the task of spelling out how everyone regardless of faith or –ism could bind together and use positive intent and will to direct change and aid the Occupy Movement.

I started by looking at my own magickal “career” for inspiration. The one thing that I will always take away from everything that I have learned from my practice is that ideals like light, love, honor, integrity and right action will always translate over social, ethic and religious boundaries. I can’t think of one holy book or one great teacher who ever said: “Go over there and oppress those people because you have more of this meaningless paper then they do.” Never happened because these great teachers expounded the messages of love, honor, integrity and right action and people who walk these various –isms know that message as a Universal Truth. In reality, all the –isms of the world speak the same language – they just very in the ways they get there.

So, how do we harness this power and direct is as pure will and positive intent for direct change? It’s very simple, what is the difference between magick and prayer? At their root semantics and that’s about it. Both are how you tap the Divine for the energy to change the world around you, if you pardon the pun – the Devil is in the details.

Everyone of every faith can come together and help lend their intention and will to help manifest the change that everyone really wants to see. Occupy Witchcraft and OccupyWitch on Twitter will never discriminate because of your particular –ism. For those who are committed to light, love, honor, integrity and right action maybe on different Paths, but we are walking in the same direction! Going my way?

May I first say how honoured I feel to have been present at your birth – may you all be Blessed with long and fulfilling lives. I am not a witch even though I have sometimes used the Craft to enable manifestation of my shamanic work and I know that, to others, we can look alike even if we are aware of our differences. I come to you with a request for help.

Every shaman is unique and works in our own way. Within my own Otherworld resides an Essence of Faith that seems to underpin all our human spiritualities, known and unknown, seen and unseen, in whatever way they manifest on Earth. The only exception is the Dark Side that uses power for its own sake. As a result of an Otherworld journey taken yesterday, this aspect would seem to have had some of its connections to the Essence of Faith removed.

There is an amusing anecdote that, using the Laws of Chemistry, suggests that were the peoples of the Earth to restore their Essence of Faith, rather than cling to the separations of manmade religion, we would find our way through the problems we all face. Because my shamanic practice is inclusive in this way, I witness those Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews and others who exhibit an Essence of Faith in their work. What I am seeing breaks my heart.

Many of these people are being harmed by the edicts of their religion. I see the confusion and hurt as they try to cope with this and the personal struggles to overcome what is occurring. I’m hearing Christians disagree with their religious leaders to such an extent that they leave. I’m hearing Muslims querying what they are being told Islam means. I’m hearing Jews deeply troubled about the way their religion is being used to perpetrate obscenities upon the helpless and Buddha has always advised those following his Path to dispense with his words if personal experience does not match up with his Teachings. From my perspective, it seems that many people who know the Essence of Faith are becoming homeless from their religions.

Witchcraft knows what it is to be persecuted. You know what it is to be homeless on our own planet. From what I have witnessed from the best of our Witches is the true Knowledge of Inclusiveness belonging to the Essence of Faith. There are no arguments with people who follow different pathways to this Essence, only a request for mutual respect. I see, too, that this request is still being denied by some religions. As the planetary crisis deepens, I am concerned that this will become worse for all of us unless we come together as Family.

So, to my request: Is possible for the Craft, working together, to create a multi-faith circle of manifest energy where all those of whatever religion or spiritual discipline could meet in collective Peace? A place where Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Witches, Shaman and everyone else could find a cultured home together; where each could bring our Knowing of the essence of Love; our respect for difference; our hopes for our future and our intention-to-act to create such a future? Is such a creation possible?

When I announced the birth of Occupy Witchcraft, I promised to bring some gifts. What I bring are the Shamanic Visions I had when I participated in “The 9/11 Experiment”. This experiment was created by Lynne McTaggart and Dr. Salah Al-Rashed on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and it manifested the most astonishing meeting of faiths I have ever witnessed. It was not just Christians or Muslims, I met Sufis and Hindus participating too. Lynne has been able to demonstrate that the Experiment was a success for her purpose of demonstrating the Power of Intention. I remain deeply grateful that I could be a part of it. Nevertheless, there is further Otherworld power available were Occupy Witchcraft interested in utilizing it.

My Otherworld is tremendously opportunistic in my experience. Every time I am asked to work there, I see this in action. If other tasks can be done in addition to the intent of the journey itself, my Otherworld takes full advantage. I’m advised by my Allies that this is equally true for my 9/11 Experiment visions and can be gifted as a potential framework for any Craftwork needed to create a true MultiFaith Circle of Power.

As always, this is a matter of Free Choice. If Witchcraft prefers to choose a different path, there is no dispute between us – you know your own Path better than I. This is simply a request for help. If you are able and willing to offer assistance, you are Free to utilize the energy of the Visions in the wisest way you know.

“Phoenix appears on my bedpost as I am preparing to sleep asking me to journey to the Otherworld. As he ‘speaks’, a pack of Spirit Wolves and Spirit Horse appear to. I agree to journey and mount Horse. I find Hecate’s Gift (Cloak and Mask) lying across Horse’s back. We travel at speed to the Lower World. I notice the Islamic Hallway remains in place as we travel and that my Lower World is now green and lush and alive.

We arrive it the Energy Barrier where a crowd of people are waiting. As I dismount, I see Iesua – he is dressed for battle and is carrying a sword. So are all the others. I see the Prophet amongst them alongside many, many other Messengers of God. I look to Iesua questioningly. He says, “We are to retrieve/release all those Soul Parts who now wish to depart from the Dark Side” in response to my query.

I look around and see Namei. She is smiling broadly and is much more ‘substantial’ now than when I first met her. She introduces me to a male being of her People and says he has come to retrieve the Soul parts of the Star Peoples. I find Iesua at my side who tells me I am needed because a part of my Soul remained on the other side of the Veil when I performed my last work and my Otherworld would like it returned to me. Iesua nods in the direction of Hecate’s Gift, still on Horse’s back, so I collect these and put them both on.

When I am ready, Iesua steps up to the Energy Barrier/Veil and with his Sword, cuts an opening for our very large party to pass through. Iesua holds my hand as I step through. He tells me that I will not be able to see anything other than the Light and to not be concerned about this. In Truth, this suits me just fine!

On the other side of the Energy Barrier/Veil, the other companions of our party have disappeared for their own tasks and, with my hand in his, I travel with Iesua. I can see nothing as we move through this place together until we find ourselves in a room in which I can see. It looks very similar to the place where I found J’s soul part. Letting go of my hand, Iesua makes a movement with his Sword (the names ‘Excalibur’ and ‘Sword of Truth’ come into my mind as he does this) and I sense all traps and bindings falling away. Then he produces a very large pouch that looks like a sister/brother to the pouch I used for J, except for size, and he calls to call the Soul parts now wishing to leave to come to him. I see Lights move towards him and into the pouch. Then Iesua turns and hands me another small pouch containing a Soul Part – “This is yours” he says. I hang the pouch around my neck.

Iesua then closes his pouch, but I can still see Lights within the room. Iesua says “These have chosen to remain. This must be respected”. Then he takes my hand again and we return to the Energy Barrier /Veil. Before we cross through the opening he made, Iesua raises his Sword again and cuts – like a spell from a wand – along the line of the Energy Barrier/Veil as if he is cutting away this place from its moorings to the Veil or beyond.

We pass through the opening in the Energy Barrier/Veil where the whole of our party are waiting for us. The first person I see is Namei’s companion and I immediately enquire about the Star Peoples’ Soul parts. “Free and home” he says, smiling. Then I feel Iesua squeeze my hand, so I turn to him. As ‘I’ emerge from the pouch, I see I am as damaged as those I retrieved during the first work. Iesua cups my Soul part and gently breathes healing over ‘me’. The Prophet steps up to him and takes my Soul part into his hands, where he does the same thing. Each of the company does the same thing until my Soul part arrives at the last, Namei’s companion, who, after healing, blows my Soul part back into my heart.

The Iesua says “Quickly, now – return” and I find myself, with Hecate’s Gift now lying across his back again, astride Horse who turns and gallops me home to my bed with Phoenix and the SpiritWolfPack travelling with us.

I will be doing something because Shelley Von Strunkel is being very insistent on the matter – as an astrologer myself, I rate her work.

A very interesting fish #DefNotAShark has appeared in my ‘Waters’, as you can see from the above exchange of tweets. Check out her Wiki page – her motivation for becoming MP is an interesting one, given the current climate of sleaze, and she’s very quick to kill off falsehoods. I can respect that. We could use a lot more Tory women like her.

And before any ‘socialists’ go off in a lather about thinking good things about the Tories, I’d ask you to remember those who were commenting in the Torygraph during #Hackgate. They were rougher on their own than we were. ‘Our MP’ here shifted those #NHSDestroyers by herself, as a backbencher, because she knew what she was talking about as a GP. It’s a shame she wasn’t permitted to remain in practice – she’d be seeing the impact of #UKGovCuts first hand.
If there was one thing the #Torygraph and the #Guardianistas agreed upon last year was that this country had a very serious problem. I am hoping we all still agree on that, because there are a few things I’d like to share with such Tories. I’ve worked and dealt with Tories of that #Spirit. ‘Our MP’ would probably be horrified, but when I was Staff Side Secretary for Westminster NALGO, omigod years ago, the Tory Council agreed to second me full-time to trade union activities. I think I may be the only person that ever happened to – it certainly sounded that way at the time – and the reason given for my privilege was that I contributed to the efficient running of the Council; I got agreements where none could be found, apparently because people wanted to agree with me; I helped make things work properly. I still do – when systems work properly, there really is room for everyone no matter who they are (unless they really are a serious problem). We have space to be tolerant and to find out who our neighbours are.

Our country isn’t working on any number of different levels. In some very practical ways, it’s not working on any level and it’s a problem we all share, Tory and whatever political else apart. You see, I wonder if ‘Our MP’s’ voting record might have been different if she wasn’t so ‘new’ and under the Party Whip? I was blaming her for what the Coalition has forced upon us and that might not be fair to her. She might be like the Tory woman I once spent a delightful afternoon with, sitting outside my local polling station, collecting voter cards… at the height of Thatcherism. It was a very slow polling station, so the two of us had plenty of time to talk and we got on like a house on fire, but when she asked me what I thought of Thatcher, my heart sank because I have never been able to stand the woman. So I reached for the most diplomatic reply I could think of – that I didn’t like some of her policies – because my companion had earned it. She leaned forward and said “Not all of us agree with them either.” My companion was not under a party whip that day.

I’m asking you, my Guardianista friends, what you think – how might I best use this unforeseen opportunity? One of the things I’m tempted to suggest to ‘Our MP’ is that she take her GP knowledge directly into the Chamber of the House of Commons. She’s not just a GP – she’s a Forensic Medical Examiner, which means she’s competent to make Mental Health assessments to criminal justice levels. Whilst the psychiatric profession might make its living pathologising every aspect of human behaviour, the test for Sectioning under mental health legislation is really quite simple – it’s got little to do with what La-La Land we occupy and far more to do with whether we are harmful, either to ourselves or to others.

‘Our MP’ chose to correct a falsehood made against her. I would like the same privilege, even though I carry very different labels. I want tell her, as a qualified and accredited psychotherapist (retired), exactly how and why the policies of government, both Labour and Tory, are lethal to ordinary people in both intent and practice. I want to tell her exactly what happens to people who can see this and who try to do something about it. I want to tell her I’ve had a number of dealings with Forensic Medical Examiners who, when they are good, are pure excellence and when they are bad are corrupt as sin. I want to ask her what kind of impact the current ‘hate-the-disabled’ memes would have had on the mental health of her disabled patients. But I don’t want to know her response after I’ve told her – I want HER to know her response when she next steps into the Chamber. She can take a look at this blog if she wants to know where and how I got my FME ‘experiential qualification’.

I would like to find out how many people there are in our beleaguered country who see this problem too. I want to know how many MP’s agree with me. I want to know how those MP’s would have really voted if they weren’t enslaved to the party whip. I’m interested to know how many of our MP’s can rise to the level of stateswoman or statesman by resigning the Whip, forcing a by-election, and standing again as an Independent – where they would be free to really represent the people of their Constituency. Personally, I suspect Totnes would send our MP back to the House with an even bigger majority than now but what works for Totnes won’t necessarily work in Gateshead. Hands up how many of us would like MP’s to ensure the government served the genuine need of their constituents and not some cloud-cuckoo nonsense dreamed up by those who have never done a real days work in their life?

Supposing there were enough MP’s willing to do this? A choice made by the individual conscience of that MP alone. Could that force a General Election? Is it really too much to ask our MP’s for? So the people of this country can express their true opinion about what is being done to them? There is no electoral mandate for what this Coalition has done. This is a matter of democracy. Why are we not being permitted to vote on this?

What do you think? Should we kick this idea around a bit and see what it does? There has to be some way we, the people – whoever we are, wherever we are – can begin to ask for some sanity around here.

We start by talking to each other and having very real conversations about our very real problems. There’s stuff being allowed to go on in this country that my grandfather spent five years at war to stop. How many of us understand this? If we do, what do we do next?

Rise and Fall of Underwater Volcano Revealed:

The violent rise and collapse of an underwater volcano in the Pacific Ocean is captured in startling clarity for the first time.

Researchers studying the Monowai volcano, near Tonga, recorded huge changes in height in just two weeks.

The images, gathered by sonar from a research ship, shed new light on the turbulent fate of submarine mountains.

Published in the journal Nature Geoscience, the findings were made during a seabed survey last year.

Underwater wonder

Lead author Tony Watts of Oxford University told the BBC that the revelation was “a wake-up call that the sea-floor may be more dynamic than we previously thought.”

“I’ve spent my career studying the seabed and have generally thought it pretty stable so it’s stunning to see so much change in such a short space of time.”

As many as 32,000 underwater mountains have been identified around the world and the majority are believed to be volcanic in origin. Several thousand of these may be active but a combination of ocean depth and remoteness means that very few have been studied.

This research into the Monowai volcano provides a fascinating insight into the little-known world of submarine geology.

Monowai was first spotted from an aircraft in 1944. Surveys over following years found evidence of significant change - with the sea discoloured and seismic activity detected. Studies between 1978 and 2007 showed the summit repeatedly rising and falling

But this latest analysis compared images gathered on May 14 and then June 1-2 last year and even in that short period the volcano had undergone a transformation.

Travelling on the research ship the R/V Sonne, the scientists first spotted that the sea above the volcano had turned a yellowy-green and gas bubbles were rising to the surface.

According to Professor Watts, “”I had butterflies. The gas was smelling awful - like rotten eggs. We saw a slick ahead of us and with something venting, there could have been a sudden shallowing of the water.”

The team then left the area to carry on with planned research elsewhere but three days later were warned that seismic detectors on the Cook Islands had detected violent activity around the volcano over a five-day period.

“If we had been over the volcano during the eruption, rocks could have hit the hull of the ship - that could have been potentially dangerous.”

Later the ship returned to the scene and the scientists were surprised to see how much the volcano had changed. In the space of a fortnight, one part of the volcano’s summit had collapsed by as much as 18.8m while new lava flows had raised another area by 79.1m. Most striking was the creation of an entirely new volcanic cone.

The researchers believe the changes are larger than at most other volcanoes. Only Vesuvius and Mount St Helens have recorded larger growth rates.

The paper says the speed of growth and change is “a reminder of how rapidly geological processes such as submarine landsliding and volcanism can occur.”

Professor Watts said: “Any movement on the seabed has the potential to create a tsunami. An earthquake suddenly dislocates the seabed. Here a violent disturbance lasted five days with magma oozing out which might be too slow to trigger a tsunami - but it’s unknown.

“This is a violent exchange of rock into the water - it could destabilise the cone and cause a landslide which in principle could cause a tsunami.

The same expedition’s survey produced stunning images last year of a line of underwater volcanoes being carried inexorably to the chasm of a subduction zone, the Tonga Trench.

That research was investigating whether the volcanoes exacerbated or dampened the pressures on the fault line.

In the sprawling hills of the Kangundo district in Kenya’s Eastern Province, just a few hours outside of capital city Nairobi, Fred Kiambaa has been farming the same small, steep plot of land for more than 20 years.

Born and raised just outside Kathiini Village in Kangundo, Kiambaa knows the ups and downs of agriculture in this semi-arid region. He walks up a set of switchbacks to Kangundo’s plateaus to tend his fields each morning and seldom travels further than a few miles from his plot.

Right now, all that remains of his maize crop are rows of dry husks. Harvest season finished just two weeks ago, and the haul was meager this time around.

“Water is the big problem, it’s always water. We have many boreholes, but when there is no rain, it’s still difficult,” he said.

Kiambaa and his wife, Mary, only harvested 440 pounds of maize this season, compared to their usual 2,200. They have six children, meaning there will be many lean months before the next harvest, and worse: Though March is Kenya’s rainiest month, it’s been mostly dry so far.

“The rain surely is not coming well this year. Rain is the key. We can only pray,” he said.

Wonder Crops?

Farmers like Kiambaa are central to a push to deploy genetically modified (GM) technology within Kenya. In recent years, donors such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have invested millions of dollars into researching, developing and promoting GM technology, including drought-resistant maize, within the country - and have found a great deal of success in doing so through partnerships with local NGOs and government bodies.

The Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI), a semi-autonomous government research institution, recently announced that after years of trials, genetically modified drought-resistant maize seeds will be available to Kenyan farmers within the next five years. Trial GM drought-resistant cotton crops are already growing in Kidoko, 240 miles southeast of Nairobi.

Researchers and lobbyists argue that in a country so frequently stricken by food shortages, scientific advancements can put food into hungry bellies. Drought-resistant seeds and vitamin-enriched crops could be agricultural game changers, they say.

But serious concerns about viability, corporate dependency and health effects linger - even while leading research firms and NGOs do their best to smooth them over.

Agriculture dominates Kenya’s economy, although more than 80 percent of its land is too dry and infertile for efficient cultivation. Kenya is the second largest seed consumer in sub-Saharan Africa, and Nairobi is a well-known hub for agricultural research. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, farming is the largest contributor to Kenya’s gross domestic product, and 75 percent of Kenyans made their living by farming in 2006.

Half of the country’s total agricultural output is non-marketed subsistence production - meaning farms like Kiambaa’s, where nothing is sold and everything is consumed.

On top of that, the country is still reeling from the worst drought in half a century, which affected an estimated 13 million people across the Horn of Africa in 2011. Kenya is home to the world’s largest refugee camp, housing 450,000 Somalis fleeing violence and famine, increasing the pressure to deal with food security challenges.

Prime Minister Raila Odinga recently called on parliament to assist the estimated 4.8 million Kenyans, in a country of about 40 million, who still rely on government food supports, as analysts predict that this year’s rainy season will be insufficient to guarantee food security.

“The situation is not good… Arid and semi-arid regions have not recovered from the drought,” Odinga said.

At the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF), a massive NGO working on GM research and development in partnership with KARI, Regulatory Affairs Manager Dr. Francis Nang’ayo says GM crops are “substantially equivalent” to non-genetically modified foods and should be embraced as a solution to persistent drought and hunger.

In 2008, the AATF received a $47 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This partnership involved the Howard G. Buffett Foundation and American seed giant Monsanto.

In 2005, the Water-Efficient Maize for Africa (WEMA) program became one of the first main partners in a program aimed at developing drought-resistant maize for small-scale African farmers. Monsanto promised to provide seeds for free. The Gates Foundation claimed at the time that biotechnology and GM crops would help end poverty and food insecurity in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2010, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Gates Foundation had invested $27.6 million in Monsanto shares.

Donors had been investing millions in KARI for decades in an effort to develop seeds that would produce pest- and disease-resistant plants and produce higher yields. Monsanto promised results, with the goal of distributing its seeds to small-scale farmers across Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda.

Since then WEMA’s African partners have made major strides in bringing GM crops to Kenya, most notably when KARI announced in March that it is set to introduce genetically modified maize to farmers’ fields by 2017. Until 2008, South Africa had been the only country using GM technology. Now Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Mali, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Ghana are researching GM seeds and growing trial crops of cotton, maize and sorghum.

“Five years ago it was only South Africa that had a clear policy. Since then a number of countries have put their acts together by publishing policies on GM technology laws. In Kenya we’re moving on to create institutional mechanisms,” said Dr. Nang’ayo.

Deeply Divided

But Nang’ayo and his team face several challenges. Popular opinion on the technology is deeply divided in Kenya, in large part due to suspicions about the giant foreign corporations that control it.

Monsanto-patented seeds are usually costly, which has led to numerous accusations of exploitation and contemporary colonialism. But how long will these particular strains of seeds last? What are the guarantees? Critics fear dependence on corporate fertilizers and pesticides, the emergence of super-weeds and pests that can no longer repel GM varieties, and terminator seeds that only last for one planting season.

At Seattle’s AGRA Watch, a project of the Community Alliance for Global Justice, director Heather Day said there aren’t enough questions being asked about introducing GM technology to developing countries.

“Our campaign started because of our concern about the Gates Foundation’s influence on agriculture and the lack of transparency and accountability. We also have ecological concerns, in terms of food sovereignty and farmers’ ability to control their food system. We need to be concerned about the industrialization of the agricultural system,” she said.

AGRA Watch’s objective is to monitor and question the Gates Foundation’s push for a “green revolution” in Africa.

Monsanto has promised an indefinite supply of royalty-free seeds for this project, but Day said the pitfalls have the potential to devastate the continent’s agriculture.

“Genetically modified crops actually haven’t been that successful,” Day said. “We’ve seen massive crop failure in South Africa, and farmers there couldn’t get financial remedies or compensation for their losses. There’s genetic resistance and super-pests, these things are happening now, and it’s not surprising. It’s what you would expect from an ecological standpoint.”

The horror stories are real - in India, for example, farmers who purchased Bollgard I cotton seeds from 2007 to 2009 wound up spending four times the price of regular seeds, and paying dearly for it. It was believed that Monsanto’s patented GM seeds would be resistant to pink bollworms, which were destroying cotton crops across swaths of India, but by 2010 Monsanto officials were forced to admit that the seed had failed and a newer breed of far more aggressive pests had emerged. The solution? Bollgard II, an even stronger GM cotton seed.

As of December 2011, Monsanto was actively promoting the latest Bollgard III cotton seed, stronger than ever before. Pesticide spending in India skyrocketed between 2007 and 2009, forcing thousands of farmers into crushing debt, and hundreds more into giving up their land. Some media outlets later drew a connection between the Bollgard debacle and a rash of suicides across farms that had purchased the seeds.

Land Grabs

Kenya is a country where land-grabbing is all too common, be it on the coast to make way for new tourist resorts, or in Nairobi, where slum demolitions left hundreds homeless when the government bulldozed several apartment buildings to reclaim an area near the Moi Air Base.

Farmers here are skeptical of risking everything for a few seasons of higher yields. In Kangundo, Kiambaa said he would try GM technology if it was a matter of life or death - but he is wary.

Kiambaa uses the Katumani breed of maize, a widely available seed that is reasonably drought-tolerant and affordable. Higher yields are tempting, of course, but Kiambaa said he doesn’t want to chance his livelihood on a foreign corporation. While his family has been on the land for decades now, Kiambaa said they didn’t get to farm it until British colonialists returned it to local farmers. He pointed out trees that line the steep hillside, planted by the British.

“It’s because of Mzungus that we have charcoal,” he said, smiling wryly.

After the last harvest, Kiambaa can’t even afford to use Kenya’s standard DAP fertilizer, which costs 59 cents per pound. Instead, he has a lone cow tied to a post in his fields.

“This provides the fertilizer we need. We can’t afford anything else. The maize yield could have been much better, but we know our plants will grow each year. It is better we keep it the way it is. My family has been on this land for 100 years. We have always survived,” he said.

At the National Biosafety Authority (NBA), CEO Willy Tonui claims media hysteria and inaccurate reporting are to blame for resistance to GM technology, arguing the NBA maintains stringent guidelines about GM seeds in Kenya. Referring to the plans to allow GM maize seeds in by 2017, Tonui said, “The National Biosafety Authority does not have the mandate to introduce GM maize or any other crop into Kenya. We only review applications that are submitted to the authority. To date, the authority has not received any application on commercial release of GM maize or any other crop.”

Anne Maina, advocacy coordinator for the African Biodiversity Network (ABN), a coalition of 65 Kenyan farming organizations, said that’s not a good enough answer.

“Who’s controlling the industry?” she asked. “If you are going to talk to the National Biosafety Authority, they’ll tell you the information is available, but there is a confidential business information clause where whoever is controlling the industry is not held accountable. The level of secrecy and lack of transparency is unacceptable.”

Farmers’ Needs

The ABN has actively lobbied the government since 2004 to crack down on GM technology slowly filtering into Kenya, with some measure of success. A 2009 Biosafety Act required all GM imports to pass stringent government standards before entering the country.

Maina recognizes the uphill battle she’s facing.

“Our public research institutions must shift their focus back to farmers’ needs,” she told The Indypendent, “rather than support the agenda of agribusiness, which is to colonize our food and seed chain. We believe that the patenting of seed is deeply unethical and dangerous.”

Joan Baxter is a journalist who has spent years reporting on climate change and agriculture in Africa. Reporting now from Sierra Leone, Baxter was quick to point out that even if a farmer chooses not to use GM technology, it won’t guarantee crop safety.

“Farmers are always at risk of contamination from GM seeds. That has been shown in North America. The farmers [in Africa] may lose their own seeds, perhaps be given GM seeds for a year or two, then have to purchase them and be stuck in the trap and in debt,” she said.

Like Maina, Baxter sees a problem in how GM technology is being marketed, and slowly introduced, into African countries, under the guise of ending famine. With climate change becoming an increasingly influential factor in the GM debate, Baxter said companies claiming to help are only looking for profit.

“Basically this is disaster capitalism. The disaster of hunger and drought, climate change and policy-related, is now a profit opportunity for Monsanto and Syngenta. The Gates Foundation buying shares in Monsanto tells you what the real agenda is: To get GMOs in Africa,” she said.

In 2010, NBA’s CEO resigned after it was revealed that 280,000 tonnes of GM maize had found its way into Kenya from South Africa through the Port of Mombasa.

Farmers mobilized en masse after the Dreyfus scandal (named for the South African company responsible for shipping the seeds) was revealed, marching on Parliament to demand an end to secret imports. After the most recent GM announcement, however, there were no protests. The long rains that would ensure a good yield haven’t come. The drought may continue.

Added to the potential problems with GM technology are health risks - the strains of maize that were illegally imported in 2010 had been deemed unsafe for children and the elderly. Maina also worries about animal feeding trials that showed damage to liver, kidney and pancreas, effects on fertility, and stomach bleeding in livestock that has consumed GM feed. A more recent study carried out on pregnant women in Canada found genetically modified insecticidal proteins in their blood streams and in that of their unborn children, despite assurances from scientists that it wasn’t possible.

The political scandal that erupted after 2010’s illegal imports brought GM technology into the forefront of Kenyan public debate, but last year’s massive drought has shifted public and political discourse. The ABN doesn’t have a $47 million grant to keep it going, and the pressures it faces from politicians and corporations, now waging their own propaganda war, are overwhelming.

At the McLaughlin-Rotman Centre for Global Health in Toronto, researchers recently released a report titled “Factors in the adoption and development of agro-biotechnology in sub-Saharan Africa.” The report, which was financed by a grant by the Gates Foundation, came to the conclusion that “poor communication is affecting agbiotech adoption,” and that “widespread dissemination of information at the grassroots level and can spread misinformation and create extensive public concern and distrust for agbiotech initiatives.”

Lead researcher Obidimma Ezezika declined to comment on Monsanto’s involvement with GM technology, and denied that his team was creating corporate propaganda.

“I think it is important to actively and soberly engage in the debate by offering facts to the policy makers, media and public on ag-biotech which will dispel fears and anxieties,” he told The Indypendent.

The mounting evidence, health questions and political scandals all mean Kenya would be wisest to take a step back before jumping on board the GM train, says Maina.

“Our key concern is that the development of insecticides and pesticides is primarily the emergence of companies getting farmers to buy highly toxic chemicals, which they will become totally dependent on. We don’t yet know the extent of the health risks posed, nor how we are expected to trust companies that have a record of putting small farmers out of business. It is time for sober second thought,” she said.

DHATURA and DUTRA (Datura metel) are the common names in India for an important Old World species of Datura.

The narcotic properties of this purple-flowered member of the deadly nightshade family, Solanaceae, have been known and valued in India since prehistory. The plant has a long history in other countries as well. Some writers have credited it with being responsible for the intoxicating smoke associated with the Oracle of Delphi. Early Chinese writings report an hallucinogen that has been identified with this species. And it is undoubtedly the plant that Avicenna, the Arabian physician, mentioned under the name jouzmathel in the 11th century. Its use as an aphrodisiac in the East Indies was recorded in 1578. The plant was held sacred in China, where people believed that when Buddha preached, heaven sprinkled the plant with dew.

Nevertheless, the utilization of Datura preparations in Asia entailed much less ritual than in the New World. In many parts of Asia, even today, seeds of Datura are often mixed with food and tobacco for illicit use, especially by thieves for stupefying victims, who may remain seriously intoxicated for several days.

Datura metel is commonly mixed with cannabis and smoked in Asia to this day. Leaves of a white-flowered form of the plant (considered by some botanists to be a distinct species, D. fastuosa) are smoked with cannabis or tobacco in many parts of Africa and Asia.

The plant contains highly toxic alkaloids, the principal one being scopolamine. This hallucinogen is present in heaviest concentrations in the leaves and seeds. Scopolamine is found also in the New World species of Datura (pp. 142-147). Datura ferox, a related Old World species, not so widespread in Asia, is also valued for its narcotic and medicinal properties.
